Luray Caverns are located in the Valley Shenandoah the mountains of Appalachia. There is a group of karst caves located north of the US city of Luray, Virginia, available to visitors and equipped with lighted walkways. The temperature inside the caverns is uniformly 12 °C. The caverns comprise a group of chambers, 9 to 43 metres in height, which are illuminated by indirect lighting and are connected by corridors, stairways, and bridges. The underground cavern system is generously adorned with speleothems (columns, mud flows, stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, mirrored pools, etc.). There are many fantastic karst forms named: Leaning Column, Empress Column, Double Column, Giant’s Hall, Brands Cascade, Saracen’s Tent, Hoveys Balcony and experience the haunting sounds of the world’s only Stalacpipe Organ. Awesome place, even if you have already seen other caves.
