National Museum of the American Indian – belonging to the Smithsonian Institution museum dedicated to the history, the life, languages, literature and art American Indians. The new museum building in Washington was opened in 2004. It is the first national museum dedicated entirely indigenous Americans. It has original shape and inside on five floors of exhibits provided an enormous amount (nearly 1 million), videos, multimedia presentations. In this museum for the first time most of the items, collections and cultures is presented with an Indian point of view. In general, Native Americans have filled the leadership roles in the design and operation of the museum and have aimed at creating a different atmosphere and experience from museums of European and Euro-American culture.
