Chocholow is a little village in Poland located in the Malopolska province, situated in the valley of the brook Black Dunajec, in the highest Polish Tatra mountains. It is today one of the most beautiful villages of Podhale, built almost entirely of original highland huts, most of them built in the old highlander style at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, built of logs. To local tradition should wash them out with water and soap twice a year, at Easter and Corpus Christi. Settlement reached the areas Chocholow in the mid-sixteenth century. The first reeve of the village was given the privilege of King Sigismund III in 1592. In addition, the village became famous in the history of Chocholow uprising in 1846 against the Austrians. Wooden houses in Chocholow peaks are usually set to the road leading through the village. An interesting sight is the "cottage with a living" - a house with a front wall built in front of more than a hundred years ago, actually in one, a huge fir trunk. Chocholow as a living museum of regional building covered by conservation care (120 buildings) has been registered as a monument "0" class. In addition, in Chocholow we can see Uprising Museum housed in front of the church where the interesting exhibition is presented historical-ethnographic - interiors also show the daily life of highlanders family in the nineteenth century. In the village there is a church of the nineteenth century and the regional chamber where you can buy souvenirs carved by the host. Tourists who come to us, they will be able to participate in interactive activities like; embroidery, metalwork, product mountain cheeses, traditional production of butter, competitions friction cabbage and many other ancient activities related to the endangered professions.
