Dresden Pfund family shop from 1880 – it is the most beautiful dairy shop in the world, certified by Guinness Book. It is the work of renowned company Vileroy & Boch (existing since 1748 years). Dresdner Molkerei Gebrüder Pfund was founded by a farmer from Reinholdshain. Farmer wandered in the nineteenth century to Dresden with his wife Matilda and six cows. They wanted to sell fresh milk to people from the town. Entrepreneurship Paul Pfund has given success. Having a cow on the spot had a great plus - there was no need to transport milk from distant farms, and customers can watch the milking process, straining and cooling. That was the beginning of dairy empire. Pfund family was the first in Germany introduced pasteurized and condensed milk. The 150 liters of milk per day in the initial period of the dairy production has increased to 60,000 liters per day in the 30 over 20 minutes to a dairy containers scored more than 23 000 liters of milk. In addition to animal breeding facilities Pfund assumed laboratories, factory cardboard, printed labels in many languages. They had ballrooms, painting, welding, tailoring workshops, garages, laundry room and a nursery for employees’ children. In 1891 the company took the building at Bautzner Strasse 79 - there is still just a shop. In the GDR shop was closed. Back to the tradition of the store was made possible only after 1990. The heirs of the family Pfund currently exporting dairy products, especially cheese and make milkshakes (buttermilk, kefir) tourists.
