In Roskilde, about 60 km from Copenhagen’s it is Viking Ship Museum with the great reconstructed Viking boats. They measure 31 meters long and can accommodate up to 100 warriors. In summer you can watch the process of building their replicas, and even check their maneuverability when sailing through the nearby fjord. The museum was established to exposure of 5 boats excavated from the bottom of the bay 15 km from the shores of Roskilde - the former capital of the Kingdom of Denmark, where they were sunk to defend access to the port enemy forces. In 1997 during the construction of the port in the museum discovered another 9 boats. The museum offers many attractions, among others, screening of the film describing the history and culture of the Vikings, archaeological workshop, where you can look at traditional methods of shipbuilding, historical workshop where guests alone can accomplish wooden shields, necklaces with beads, mini-lessons in archery.
